Lost in pages



I am lost in the pages of the book I adore
but I swear this has never happened before.
I can't find my way back, not that i want to;
stay here put? oh! that I would love to.

It's amazing to dive in these word mines
but I think I have crossed some 'story lines'
I pushed the lead aside, now I kind of rule this earth
and all the mean ones in here have been stabbed to death

Everything in here seems way too good
I  took the 'draught of delight' more than I could
but how can I live here smiling, for ages,
 pull me back, I'm somewhere in those unread pages.

  Have you ever wondered why you encounter  the question "what do you do?" more than "how do you do? " (Maybe an Indian thing of poking one's nose into another's life). If you are a married woman and a mother at that, you will get this question more often. I have been fiddling with this  question for so many years now until one day the realization finally dawned upon me.  It is hard to keep up with the societal standards. It is harder to meet people's expectation about you. Are we the darkness?

Are we the darkness shrouding the entire world? dragging it on with a harness; violently thrashed and hurled. What we claim to have created has been tilted and tossed, our priorities still unsorted, deadly lines we have crossed. Now we are too broke to undo the menace we have unclasped; No roads to salvation with the curses we have grasped. And we weep for ourselves  and worry for what time beholds. It's time to tidy up our shelves  and see how the next chapter unfolds.

Flipping the pages of my old crumbled notebook I found those scrawny jokers embellishing my crabbed hand resurrecting old memories in my mind. We were best friends; perhaps born 'besties' "Un-goggled" nerds shouting out answers From the back bench; pushed to the corner By a fatso, engulfing two third of the area -a loner. We were the princesses of our imaginary world Where we had the perfect things and were the prettiest girls. In the real world, we'd just sit whispering,with narrowed eyes and a frown.
