Like every daughter does; I love my father thus

I wonder what you felt when you held me for the first time but the moment our eyes met all I wished to say was "long time!" I grew up in your shade to become your own shadow you let me wander in your corridor and I saw the world through your window Your words that found my ears; I wore them like a crown I pursued your foot steps and now I'm the way you had walked on I am the restless waves finding solace on your shore you being there like a radiant sun there's nothing more I could wish for

I don't belong here

The world looks down on me as I stare squarely into infinity for I wasn't what they wanted me to be and I refused to alter my entity. I didn't speak their language nor did I ever act my age; always found on a different page clutching the rusty bars of my cage. strayed from normalcy;labelled an oddball never ignoring my inner call and finally the revelation broke my fall that I don't belong to this world after all.

Open your mind

Jut open your mind a bit maybe There's a lot out there for you to see step out into the blissful light know that everything isn't just black and white Imbibe in the defining colours  taste the world in it's distinct flavours Just open your mind a tad bit let the senses glide in and fit Listen to the whispering walls the calls of the age old souls don't shut your ears to the deafening noise and the reverberating inner voice Just open your mind to the knocks of reality greet the world in its diversity hither everyone is unlike the other and back to different caves we slither open your mind and fill in the missing spaces with wide arms embrace the differences.

Clean slate

I had plans but HE snapped it all I laddered up just to see the sky fall Made my way up the mountains; came down with the landslide Built a hut in the woods but HE bolted it from the inside The pages of the book I read revealed a different story HE altered the ingredients of my favorite dish and he wasn't even sorry The boat which lay stranded for years was seen floating adrift the weight on my shoulders; I sensed it shift HE pierced my walls and shattered my fences unlocked my chains and awakened my senses All my life I've done nothing but blame my fate but every single time HE provided me with a clean slate.

The one you can count on

He snipped the thorns of the roses you plucked pulled you through when you were lying hopelessly in the muck guided you to the door when you were groping in the dark he was the blazing flame which ignited your spark. He glued you together when you were broken down to pieces stood by your side when you fought with the masses cheered for you when you were showered with praises always walked beside you in different forms and faces. In your gloomiest days he was your shoulder to cry on In the loneliest hours, the one who you could always count on he healed your broken heart and gave a reason to move on all the times you gave up, he pressed you to go on.

Fitting into others' crosswords

Image
I tried to fit into other's crosswords but ended up battling with the black and white and that's when the colours ditched my sight Encroaching on my blocks down and across People descended on my personal space and I suffocated in their fierce embrace They scratched me out calling me a misfit But before they overwrote on my  individuality I skedaddled defending my dignity
