The chain of shaming and blaming.

Have you ever felt that you are a disappointment to the older generation? If yes, you are not alone. An entire generation is standing by you, sharing the same hurt. Not speaking for everyone, but a majority of us feel like we are often misunderstood or not understood at all. A series of misunderstandings and disappointments make us feel like we are are huge failures; that our life is a big disaster. Instead of celebrating and cherishing each moment in our lives, we focus on the negative aspects and a valuable period of our life is lost in sulking about the fake problems that we ourselves create.  Parents implant the seeds of their unfulfilled desires in their children and if they fail to bear fruits, they get disappointed in us. They raise their expectations in us, so high, that sometimes we break our wings trying to fly those heights. Every older generation does this to the younger one. Tomorrow, we may also do the same to the next generation. But the question is, shall we not try to

Why?

Why do I need to pray when you are deaf to whatever I say Why do I expect you to see when you have shut your eyes on me why do I even cry when your heart is so cold and dry Why do I make an argument when you have already made your judgement Why do I resort to pretence  when it doesn't make any difference Why do I change my identity when still, all there'd be left for me is pity

We ain't got enough time

Image
24 hours a day, 168 a week, 8760 an year, but we still can’t find enough time. The clock ticks the same everywhere. But why is it that, no matter where we look, some of us (well, most) can never find time for anything?  Someone asks us to complete a work within a given deadline and we fail to do it. Why? Because we didn’t get enough time. A friend calls and says “long time no see” and our immediate response is “I so badly wanted to talk to you but I didn’t even get time”. So what’s the big deal with this time? Why is it so hard to find?Truth is, we never really attempt to find it. And what we do is, we blame everything on time. We make it seem like we don’t get 60 minutes every hour like everyone else does..  Time is not something that you buy or rent or own. But it is something infinite and it continues to exist even when we cease to. We can’t store or preserve it. There is no reservoir of time that we would run out of. We just need to know how to effectively utilize it. That is th

A tale of expectations that life is

Image
All the things that we do in our lives, we do, expecting for a favorable result. Even when we do something selflessly or unconditionally, the truth is , deep down , we all expect a bit of an acknowledgement from others. When things don’t turn out to be the way we expect, disappointment shrouds us, sucking away all the pleasant thoughts. Hence, our entire life is a tale of expectations with the morals of disappointments. We humans, always stand on a pile of expectations. But what we never expect is the fact that there will be times when we stagger. Sometimes, life leads us to a different path than we expect. There will be times when our hard work doesn’t pay off. At times,we may fail to fulfill the aims that we set in our lives. So, everything doesn’t always go as we planned. Yet, we cling on to our expectations. We stick to making plans and sketches of our entire lives. Life is not always going to be the way we dream about it. We stumble, we fall, we fail, we crash and we even shred do

Am I always right?

No. I am not. Neither are you. No one can always be correct. Not all our deeds are justifiable. Our behavior is not accepted by everyone else, all the time. Why? The answer is simple. There is no strict standard for ‘right and wrong’. It depends on various factors such as our bringing up, our morals, the outlook we have towards the world, the society we live in, the influence of religion, the circumstances that shaped us, our experiences, our attitude towards life and the list goes on and on. It differs from individual to individual. So basically, we can’t point out right and wrong in others’ sense of right and wrong.  We are all different persons. Different souls; different bodies. Hence the way of doing things, looking at things, thinking about things, differs from person to person. On what ground could we possibly judge if something done is right or wrong? In generic terms we may, but strictly it is not possible for, what we think is right maybe wrong for the other person.  When we

Learning to grow as a person

Most of us easily fall prey to provocation. No matter how highly evolved we are, we still have difficulties minding our own businesses. We are still like those monkeys waiting for the cap seller to throw caps on us, so that we can throw ours back at him. But all we throw is crap. We are bothered about so may things in life and what is disturbing is the fact that we don’t even know how to ignore them.            Maturity doesn’t always come with age. Sometimes we have to work on it. Maturity is not a physical trait; hence, simply because one ‘acts mature’ doesn’t mean they are. Maturity is the ability to make peace with life; to handle things from getting out of control; to be stable even in adversities; to learn to be the bigger person.  Tame your Ego — Our Ego is so precious to each of us, that we can never ever see it crushed. Someone tries to mess with our ego and we are already hurt.We need to stop ourselves from being confined within our ego and learn to give in, to bow

Perfection Vs. Contentment

Perfection means striving to be better at your each step. To be perfect is to be flawless. But can human nature really be beyond any flaws? Unless you are the Almighty God himself, of course (But it is still debatable). But being the humans that we are, we are programed to point out flaws in everything which doesn’t settle with our way of thinking, or our own way of doing things.  But if we think about it, it is this urge to get better, to improve, that we are here in this technology driven world. This spark for growth which kindles within, is the key element that has made innumerable inventions and discoveries possible. Without this thirst for betterment, we would still be where we were billions of years ago.  Contentment is being happy with the things way are; being satisfied with what life has to offer. It is a state of mind difficult to achieve but not impossible. The more you expect from life, more are the chances of getting disappointed. So when things happen in the least expecte

Just the way I am

I wish I knew when not to speak, That anger didn't make me this week. If only I could be less sensitive; I'd rather be not so intuitive. I wish I knew how to fake a smile; that I were not so docile once a while. I wish being kind wasn't this sour It'd have been  good If I weren't such a pushover. But sometimes I wish if I had a voice; If I could live the life of my choice. I wish I were so composed and calm, Then again, why can't I be just the way I am?

I have.

Have you ever cried  For reasons unknown? And hoped to be held  By the helpless walls while you bawled? I have. Have you ever been worried  About problems non-existent? Obsessively pondered over it Until your brains sprang out? I have. Have you ever let Your imaginations run wild; Through twisted story lines  Until you felt mentally nauseous?  I have. Have you ever felt sad Amidst the brewing happiness? And all you could scatter around Was sheer emptiness? I have.

Better

“You can do better”  his father’s comment wiped the smile away from  Jerry’s face. He was just five marks away from a perfect hundred.  That in itself was a big achievement, he had thought. But that’s not how his father saw it. He could have done better. He always could have. But no matter how better he does, it doesn’t get better.  Jerry shut the front door behind him and walked towards the playground across the street. He sat on the swing lazily and watched the children play, shout, run, scream and do whatever they felt like doing. All those happy faces made the corners of his lips twitch up. Life is not all about a race to win, he thought to himself. Sometimes you have to go off track and ditch the scene. Jerry was so busy playing mental conversations that he didn’t realise when he got hit by a rubber ball which came his way and swept him off of the swing, only to be landed on the cold hard ground. . “Are you feeling better son?” His father asked looking at him intently. An imperfect being

Look at me, And see my imperfections; My flaws; And my quirky dispositions. 'Cause that's  all you'd see And that's what you think that makes me. Yes, I am an imperfect being freckling with flaws; Over years I have gathered moss And turned to a firm stone, hard to toss. But when I see people's eyes, I realize I would never suffice. But when you  look, look deeper, See the person behind my imperfections; A soul, breaking down the inhibitions; A feeble mind, begging for patience. But ain't I just a black dot on a plain sheet? The worldly expectations, I could never meet.

A better place

I wish people were blinded only by the glaring sun and not by the darkness lurking within; deafened by the throbbing noises and not by the wails of clinging desires. The world would have been a better place where all could find a bit of solace. If only people could open their minds than opening their naked eyes and see the whims of reality; If they could tune their ears to the silent sobs and not just to a jumble of words. the world would really be a better place where peace would be easy to trace.

Are we the darkness?

Are we the darkness shrouding the entire world? dragging it on with a harness; violently thrashed and hurled. What we claim to have created has been tilted and tossed, our priorities still unsorted, deadly lines we have crossed. Now we are too broke to undo the menace we have unclasped; No roads to salvation with the curses we have grasped. And we weep for ourselves  and worry for what time beholds. It's time to tidy up our shelves  and see how the next chapter unfolds.

The world ceases to be a happy place

My chest heaves with heaviness that's when I crave darkness  to dig deeper into a hole; into emptiness to free fall. If I could smudge with colourlessness and fade into nothingness pour down with the rain, even downwards through the drain. Into pieces shreds my happiness and I tread the hills of hopelessness. When it all hinders my life's pace, the world ceases to be a happy place.
